(This picture doesn't do this dinner ANY justice!)
I usually try two to three new recipes a week and THIS ONE... was just too amazing not to share!
I got this recipe from my mom (over the phone) and have no idea what it's "proper" name is, so we will just call it a philly cheese steak-ish hoagie :)
All you need is:
1.5/2lb Chuck Roast
Can of pepperoncini's - with juice (I used a can of banana peppers)
Hoagie Rolls
Sliced Pepper Jack Cheese
(This was just enough for 4 sandwiches, so if you have a bigger family or a bigger appetite... I would double it!)
This is all the recipe called for but I added a few of my favorite seasonings (garlic powder, salt, pepper, etc.) and I happened to have about a cup of chopped onion and green pepper that I also added.
This is a crock pot recipe :) which makes it SUPER easy!
Ready for this...
Place the Chuck Roast in the crock pot
dump whole can of peppers/pepperoncini's over the roast
add whatever else you'd like to the crock pot
and cook on high for 5 hours
By the time the 5 hours is up... the roast should basically just fall apart with a few pokes of a fork or knife.
If not, just pull the meat out and shred on a cutting board.
Place the pepper jack cheese on your hoagie bun,
load it up with the meat and the peppers,
and place the sandwiches under the broiler until the cheese is melted and the buns are slightly toasted!
VOILA!
Dinner is done.
:)
We made a salad for a side dish
BUT
believe some sort of french fry would have been a better match!!
