30 Days Of Music - Day 27

A Song You Wish You Could Play

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

I have always wanted to be BETTER at playing the guitar... I would love to be able to REALLY play.
This song would be first on my list to learn.
I have a little "Slash" somewhere inside me :)

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that
special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me
of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

30 Days Of Music - Day 26

A Song That You Can Play On An Instrument

Amazing Grace

The ONLY song that I can play on an instrument that isn't "Mary Had a Little Lamb" or "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" is... Amazing Grace.
I took a guitar class in high school (probably one of the best classes that I have ever taken) and I learned how to play the most SIMPLE version of Amazing Grace.
It was my favorite song that we got to learn in that class so I played it over and over and over again.
(I was just so PROUD of myself!! lol)

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

30 Days Of Music - Day 25

A Song That Makes You Laugh

Chuck Berry - My Ding-A-Ling

I first heard this song when I was in middle school, thanks to my friend Mandie.
She would go around singing this song at the most random moments and she had choreographed "dance moves" for each verse. Thinking about it still makes me laugh.
We (me and my friends) thought it was HILARIOUS!
A song that says "ding-a-ling"... I mean, come on.
Now that I just watched the video today for the FIRST time EVER, I feel a little differently lol
Something that I once thought was hilarious (and still do when I think back to middle school), I now find a little creepy.

I hope this makes you LAUGH or at least crack a smile...
and not just think of me as some perv!!

"My Ding A Ling"

When I was a little bitty boy
my grandmother bought me a cute little toy
Silver bells hangin' on a string
she told me it was my ding a ling

My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling
My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling

And then mother took me to Grammer School
But I stopped all in the vestibule
Every time that bell would ring
catched me playin' with my ding a ling

Once I was climbing the garden wall
I slipped and had a terrible fall
I fell so hard I heard bells ring
but held on to my ding a ling

Once I was swimming cross Turtle creek
many snappers all around my feet
Shure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holdin' my ding a ling

This here song it ain't so sad
the cutest little song you ever had
those of you who will not sing
You must be playin' with your own ding a ling
My ding a ling Your ding a ling, your ding a ling
We saw you playin' with your ding a ling
My ding a ling everybody sing
I want to play with my ding a ling

30 Days Of Music - Day 24

A Song You Want At Your Funeral

Andy Griggs - If Heaven

I honestly haven't given this much thought until just now...
but this song was the first one to come to mind.

I like this song because of these lyrics:
"Don't cry a tear for me now baby
There comes a time we must all say goodbye
And if that's what heavens made of
You know i ain't afraid to die"

If heaven was an hour, it would be twilight
When the fireflies start their dancin on the lawn
And suppers on the stove and mammas laughin
And everybody's workin day is done

If heaven was a town it would be my town
On a summer day in 1985
And everything i wanted was out there waiting
And everyone i loved was still alive

Chorus:
Don't cry a tear for me now baby
There comes a time we must all say goodbye
And if that's what heavens made of
You know i ain't afraid to die

If heaven was a pie it would be cherry
Cool and sweet and heavy on your tongue
And just one bite would satisfy your hunger
And there'd always be enough for everyone

If heaven was a train it sure would be a fast one
That could take this weary traveler round the bend
And if heaven was a tear it'd be my last one
And you'd be in my arms again

Chorus:
Don't cry a tear for me now baby
There comes a time we must all say goodbye
And if that's what heaven's made of
You know i ain't afraid to die

30 Days Of Music - Day 23

A Song You Want To Play At Your Wedding
(or a song you wanted to play at your wedding)

Lady Antebellum - When You Got A Good Thing

Don't get me wrong... I LOVED the song Brett and I danced to at our wedding.
It's just that about a year later when I heard THIS song... I was secretly wishing that we could have played this one instead lol.
The first time I REALLY listened to the words in this song I fell in love with it. I even made Brett sit in silence so he too could listen to the words, with hopes that he would hear what I was hearing!!
This song sums up how I feel about Brett and our relationship and I WISH it was at least an option for us for our wedding day.

Everybody keeps telling me I'm such a lucky man
Lookin at you standin there I know I am
Barefooted beauty with eyes that blue
The sun shine sure looks good on you
I swear
Oh I can't believe I finally found you baby
Happy ever after, after all this time
Oh there's gonna be some ups and downs
but with you to wrap my arms around
I'm fine

So baby, hold on tight
Don't let go
Hold onto the love we're making
Cause baby when the ground starts shakin
You gotta know when you've got a good thing

You know you keep on bringin out the best of me
And I need you now even more than the air I breathe
You can make me laugh when I wanna cry
This will last forever I just know, I know

So baby, hold on tight
Don't let go
Hold onto the love we're making
Cause baby when the ground starts shakin
You gotta know when you've gotta good thing

We got a good thing, baby, woah
So hold on tight
Baby, don't let go
Hold onto the love we're making
Cause baby when the ground starts shakin
You gotta know, oh you gotta know
Oh you gotta know, you gotta know
When you got a good thing

We got a good thing baby
Woah, woah, woah, woah

30 Days Of Music - Day 22

A Song That You Listen To When You Are Sad

Theory Of A Deadman - Wait For Me

(I know this is super cheesy... but the other videos were just as bad lol)

Lately if I am feeling sad, no matter what the reason I usually always find myself missing Brett even MORE.
Even if it has nothing to do with him... I just wish he was here to talk to and to comfort me because he is SO GOOD at always making me feel better about any situation!

A friend of mine recently introduced me to this song and now whenever I am feeling down or missing Brett, this song can usually make me feel a little better.

The words could not be any more PERFECT!

"Knowing that you wait for me
Ever so patiently"

You are not alone tonight
Imagine me there by your side
It's so hard to be here so far away from you
I'm counting the days till
I'm finally done
I'm counting them down, yeah, one by one
It feels like forever till I return to you
But it helps me on those lonely nights
It's that one thing that keeps me alive

[Chorus:]
Knowing that you wait for me
Ever so patiently

No one else knows the feeling inside
We hang up the phone without saying goodnight
Because it's the sound of your voice that brings me home
It's never been easy to say
But it's easier when I've gone away

[Chorus:]
Knowing that you wait for me
Ever so patiently
Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having and
It's everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me

[Bridge:]
What I'd give
What I'd do
Knowing I'm not there for you
Makes it so hard to leave
What I'd give
What I'd do
Anything to get me home to you
And this time I'll stay

And you wait for me
Ever so patiently
Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having and
It's everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me

30 Days Of Music - Day 21

A Song You Listen To When You're Happy

Michael Buble - Feeling Good

:] THIS IS SUCH A FEEL GOOD SONG!
Whenever I am in a GREAT mood and driving in my car (that's where this CD is and stays) this song WILL be played at some point...
If this doesn't put you in a good mood or AT LEAST lift your spirits a little... I don't know what will.
Plus, it's MICHAEL BUBLE and what's NOT to love about that??

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom on a tree
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done
That's what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

For me

Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
It's a new life
For me

For me

I'm feeling good
I feel so good
I feel so good

HAPPY EASTER!!

30 Days Of Music - Day 20

A Song That You Listen To When You Are Angry

Crossfade - Colors

Apparently there are a lot of songs that I listen to when I am angry because I had a hard time trying to decide which one I wanted to use.
I tend to listen to any kind of ROCK music when I am in a bad mood... it just seems to fit.

Crossfade
Staind
Three Days Grace
Breaking Benjamin
Foo Fighters
Shinedown

:] I love them all.
It's almost like a form of therapy for me... it always makes me feel better.

Can you feel it crush you? Does it seem to bring the worst in you out?
There's no running away from these things that hold you down
Do they complicate you because they make you feel like this?
Of all the colors that you've shined this is surely not your best

But you should know these colors that you're shining are...

[Chorus x2:]
Surely not the best colors that you shine

I know you feel alone, yeah, and no one else can figure you out
But don't you ever turn away from the ones that help you down?
Well they'd love to save you. Don't you know they love to see you smile?
But these colors that you've shined are surely not your style

[Chorus x2]

I know you're feeling like you're lost
But you should know these colors that you're shinin are
I know you're feeling like you're lost,
You feel you've drifted way too far
Did you know these colors that you're shinin' are

[Chorus x2]

Surely not the best..
(I know you're feeling like you're lost)
Colors that you shine..
(but you should know these colors that you're shining are)
Surely not the best..
(I know you're feeling like you're lost you feel you`ve drifted way too far)
Did you know these colors that you're shinin'
are..

30 Days Of Music - Day 19

A Song From One of Your Favorite Albums

Shinedown - Burning Bright

I really don't own very many "Albums"...
I mostly have burnt CD's and now mainly use my ipod, so this was another tough one for me.
I recently went through my small box of CD's and found Shinedown - "Leave a Whisper" and I remember how much I LOVED that CD in High School... I put it in my CD player and because I listened to it on repeat for basically a whole Summer, today it skips a TON.
It's not my absolute favorite album... (I'm not sure what that would even be)
but it's definitely one of my FAVORITES.

I feel like there is no need for conversation
Some questions are better left without a reason
And I would rather reveal myself than my situation
Now and then I consider my hesitation
The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning, burning bright

I wonder if the things I did were just to be different
To spare myself from the constant shame of my existence
And I would surely redeem myself in my desperation
Here and now I'll express my situation

[CHORUS (2)]

There's nothing ever wrong but nothing's ever right
Such a cruel contradiction
I know I crossed the line, it's not easy to define
I'm born to indecision
There's always something new, some path I'm supposed to choose
With no particular rhyme or reason

[CHORUS (2)]

30 Days Of Music - Day 18

A Song You Wish You'd Hear On The Radio

Hootie And The Blowfish - Hold My Hand

:] because who doesn't enjoy a little Hootie??
(sorry the video is terrible... just listen lol)

A lot of their songs make me happy and are just fun to listen to... especially while driving!
I just wish I heard it more often!

With a little love, and some tenderness
We'll walk upon the water
We'll rise above this mess
With a little peace, and some harmony
We'll take the world together
We'll take 'em by the hand
'Cause I've got a hand for you
'Cause I wanna run with you
Yesterday, I saw you standing there
Your head was down, your eyes were red
No comb had touched your hair
I said get up, and let me see you smile
We'll take a walk together
Walk the road awhile, 'cause
'Cause I've got a hand for you
I've got a hand for you
'Cause I wanna run with you
Won't you let me run with you? yeah
Hold my hand
Want you to hold my hand
Hold my hand
I'll take you to a place where you can be
Hold my hand
Anything you wanna be because
I wanna love you the best that, the best that I can
See I was wasted, and I was wasting time
'Till I thought about your problems, I thought about your crimes
Then I stood up, and then I screamed aloud
I don't wanna be part of your problems
Don't wanna be part of your crowd, no
'Cause I've got a hand for you
I've got a hand for you
'Cause I wanna run with you
Ah, won't you let me run with you?
Hold my hand
Want you to hold my hand
Hold my hand
I'll take you to the promised land
Hold my hand
Maybe we can't change the world but
I wanna love you the best that, the best that I can, yeah
Hold my hand
Want you to hold my hand
Hold my hand
I'll take you to a place where you can be
Hold my hand
Anything you wanna be because
I...Oh...No, No, No, No, No
Hold my hand
Want you to hold my hand
Hold my hand
I'll take you to the promised land
Hold my hand
Maybe we can't change the world but
I wanna love you the best that, best that I can
Oh, The best that I can

30 Days Of Music - Day 17

A Song You Often Hear On The Radio
Miranda Lambert - Heart Like Mine

I hear this song ALL THE TIME.. and I LOVE it =]
I think Miranda Lambert is so CUTE and I enjoy listening to all of her songs.
This one is actually one of my faves.
I feel like the lyrics are really relatable... we all can be a little rough around the edges sometimes,
and I'd like to think that the "man upstairs" understands.

I ain't the kind you take home to mama
I ain't the kind to wear no ring
Somehow I always get stronger
When I'm on my second drink

Even though I hate to admit it
Sometimes I smoke cigarettes
The Christian folks say I should quit it
And I just smile and say "god bless"

Cause I heard Jesus he drank wine
And I bet we'd get along just fine
He could calm a storm and heal the blind
And I bet he'd understand a heart like mine

Daddy cried when he saw my tattoo
But said he loved me anyway
My brother got the brains of the family
So I thought I'd learn to sing

Cause I heard Jesus he drank wine
And I bet we'd get along just fine
He could calm a storm and heal the blind
And I bet he'd understand a heart like mine

And I'll fly away from it all one day
And I'll fly, I'll fly away
But these are the days that I will remember
When my names called on a roll
He'll meet me with two long stem glasses
And make a toast to me coming home

Cause I heard Jesus he drank wine
And I bet we'd get along just fine
He could calm a storm and heal the blind
And I bet he'd understand
Understand a heart like mine
Oh yes he would

30 Days Of Music - Day 16

A Song You Used To Love But Now Hate

Beyonce ft. R. Kelly - If I Were A Boy

To be honest... I am not really sure what I loved about this song in the first place.
I understand the point that Beyonce is trying to make with the lyrics in this song but today, whenever I hear it I laugh every time they say "If I/You Were A Boy" because I think it sounds.so.dumb.

R. Kelly's part in this song... just makes it seem like because he's a "BOY," it's okay for him to be an ass (excuse my language).

"But you're not a boy, so you don't have a clue."
... Yeah, right.

[Beyonce:]If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I'd roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what i wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wanted, and I'd never get confronted for it
Cuz they'd stick up for me

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man
I'd listen to her
'Cuz I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cuz he's taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

[R. Kelly:]
If you were a boy
Then, girl, you'd understand
You need to stop listenin' to your friends
Love, respect, and trust your man
So I go to clubs with the guys
And sometimes flirt with the girls
I should be able to roll out, as long as I'm comin' home to you
And give you the world

But you're not a boy
So you don't have a clue
How I work and pay the bills
How everything I do is for you
[Beyonce:]
I'd listen to her
'Cuz I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cuz he's taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

[Beyonce:]
If I were a boy (If I were a girl)
I would turn off my phone (I wouldn't play games)
Tell everyone it's broken
So they'd think that I was sleeping alone (girl you that's wrong)
I'd put myself first
And make the rules as I go
'Cuz I know that she'd be faithful
Waiting for me to come home, to come home

[R. Kelly:]
But you're not a boy
So you can't understand
You are not a perfect woman
And I am not a perfect man
[Beyonce:]
I'd listen to her
'Cuz I know how it hurts (and I know how you feel)
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cuz he's taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed (said I'm sorry)

[Beyonce:]
It's a little too late for you to come back
[R. Kelly:]
But I can't let you go, 'cuz I'm too attached
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

But you're just a boy....

30 Days Of Music - Day 15

A Song That Describes You

Colbie Caillat & Jason Mraz - Lucky

So, this song doesn't necessarily describe me as a person but it DOES describe some of my feelings and these seven months of my life.
This was our "deployment song" (if you have had a deployment, odds are you have add a deployment song) last deployment and since Brett is on another MEU... it still fits PERFECTLY.
The lyrics may seem a little cheesy (maybe only the last verse) but I really do feel LUCKY, no matter how far apart we are.
When you have to spend any large amount of time (sometimes even a small amount) away from the person that you love, you sometimes find a new appreciation for that person and MANY reasons to feel LUCKY... reasons that you may not always recognize or appreciate when you are together.

Do you hear me,
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I will
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooooh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

30 Days Of Music - Day 14

A Song No One Would Expect You To Love

Tracy Chapman - Give Me One Reason

I could NOT think of a song that would be GOOD for this day... at all.
I like all types of music so I didn't know what would really "surprise" the people that I know.
SO, I got out my ipod last night and just started going through my entire play-list to see what would be a little... well, a little out of the norm for me.
Then I heard Tracy Chapman and thought to myself:
1. Hey, I really love this song!
2. I don't really hear people saying much of ANYTHING about her... maybe they'll be surprised that I really like her and her songs.
3. PERFECT for today's BLOG!

So here it is... Would YOU expect me to love this song??

Give me one reason to stay here
And I'll turn right back around
Give me one reason to stay here
And I'll turn right back around
Because I don't want leave you lonely
But you got to make me change my mind

Baby I got your number and I know that you got mine
But you know that I called you, I called too many times
You can call me baby, you can call me anytime
But you got to call me

Give me one reason to stay here
And I'll turn right back around
Give me one reason to stay here
And I'll turn right back around
Because I don't want leave you lonely
But you got to make me change my mind

I don't want no one to squeeze me, they might take away my life
I don't want no one to squeeze me, they might take away my life
I just want someone to hold me and rock me through the night

This youthful heart can love you and give you what you need
This youthful heart can love you and give you what you need
But I'm too old to go chasing you around
Wasting my precious energy

Give me one reason to stay here
And I'll turn right back around
Give me one reason to stay here
And I'll turn right back around
Because I don't want leave you lonely
But you got to make me change my mind

Baby just give me one reason, Give me just one reason why
Baby just give me one reason, Give me just one reason why I should stay
Because I told you that I loved you
And there ain't no more to say

30 Days Of Music - Day 13

A Song That Is A Guilty Pleasure

Spice Girls - Wannabe

HA! You know it's a guilty pleasure when you feel embarrassed to put this up on your blog!!!

I will admit it... I was a HUGE Spice Girls fan back in the day.
I owned all of their CD's
Dressed up like Scary Spice for Halloween (she was my favorite)
Had posters in my room
Owned the movie and could basically quote it word for word
and my friends and I would make up dances to their songs and always fight over which Spice Girl we were.

LOL. Talk about embarrassing... geeeze.

and till this day, I can't help but "tap my foot" and sing along whenever I hear this song :]

"I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
Really really wanna zigazig ha!"

Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
Really really wanna zigazig ha

If you want my future forget my past
If you wanna get with me better make it fast
Now don't go wasting my precious time
Get your act together we could be just fine

I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
Really really wanna zigazig ha

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends
Make it last forever friendship never ends
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is

What do you think about that now you know how I feel
Say you can handle my love are you for real
I won't be hasty, I'll give you a try
If you really bug me then I'll say goodbye

I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
Really really wanna zigazig ha

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends
Make it last forever friendship never ends
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is

So here's a story from a to z, you wanna get with me
You gotta listen carefully
We got em in the place who likes it in your face
We got g like mc who likes it on an
Easy v doesn't come for free, she's a real lady
And as for me you'll see
Slam your body down and wind it all around
Slam your body down and wind it all around

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends
Make it last forever friendship never ends
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta
You gotta, you gotta, slam, slam, slam, slam
Slam your body down and wind it all around
Slam your body down and wind it all around
Slam your body down and wind it all around
Slam your body down zigazig ah
If you wanna be my lover

30 Days Of Music - Day 12

A Song From A Band You Hate

Nickelback - Rockstar

Alright, I don't necessarily HATE this band but I think some of their song lyrics are a little cheesy, along with their music videos.
This song is pretty catchy and I would be lying if I said that I never enjoyed listening to this song but today I would prefer not to.
What made me dislike this song in particular was when the guy in the background (the one with the deep voice) says, "I'll have a quesadilla." ... A QUESADILLA??? REALLY??
I just thought that was the DUMBEST thing ever to put into this song... and every time I hear it, I can't help but laugh.
I am sure there are a few songs by Nickelback that I enjoy but for the most part I feel like their song lyrics are LAME and corny.

I'm through with standing in line
To clubs we'll never get in
It's like the bottom of the ninth
And I'm never gonna win
This life hasn't turned out
Quite the way I want it to be

(Tell me what you want)

I want a brand new house
On an episode of Cribs
And a bathroom I can play baseball in
And a king size tub big enough
For ten plus me

(So what you need?)

I'll need a credit card that's got no limit
And a big black jet with a bedroom in it
Gonna join the mile high club
At thirty-seven thousand feet

(Been there, done that)

I want a new tour bus full of old guitars
My own star on Hollywood Boulevard
Somewhere between Cher and
James Dean is fine for me

(So how you gonna do it?)

I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame
I'd even cut my hair and change my name

[Chorus:]
'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat
And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's
Gonna wind up there
Every Playboy bunny
With her bleach blond hair

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar
Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

I wanna be great like Elvis without the tassels
Hire eight body guards that love to beat up assholes
Sign a couple autographs
So I can eat my meals for free
(I'll have the quesadilla on the house)
I'm gonna dress my ass
With the latest fashion
Get a front door key to the Playboy mansion
Gonna date a centerfold that loves to
Blow my money for me
(So how you gonna do it?)
I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame
I'd even cut my hair and change my name

[Chorus]

And we'll hide out in the private rooms
With the latest dictionary and today's who's who
They'll get you anything with that evil smile
Everybody's got a drug dealer on speed dial, well

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

I'm gonna sing those songs
That offend the censors
Gonna pop my pills from a pez dispenser

I'll get washed-up singers writing all my songs
lip sync 'em every night so I don't get 'em wrong

[Chorus]

And we'll hide out in the private rooms
With the latest dictionary and today's who's who
They'll get you anything with that evil smile
Everybody's got a drug dealer on speed dial

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar
Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

30 Days Of Music - Day 11

A Song From Your Favorite Band

Staind - Everything Changes

I LOVE AARON LEWIS.
His voice makes me MELT.
Therefore Staind is my FAVORITE band.
And this is ONE of my favorite songs.
(It was EXTREMELY hard for me to pick just one song!)
:]

If you just walked away
What could I really say?
Would it matter anyway?
Would it change how you feel?

I am the mess you choose
The closet you cannot close
The devil in you i suppose
'Cause the wounds never heal

But everything changes
If I could
Turn back the years
If you could
Learn to forgive me
Then I could learn to feel

Sometimes the things I say
In moments of disarray
Succumbing to the games we play
To make sure that it's real

But everything changes
If I could
Turn back the years
If you could
Learn to forgive me
Then I could learn to feel

When it's just me and you
Who knows what we could do
If we can just make it through
The toughest part of the day

But everything changes
If I could
Turn back the years
If you could
Learn to forgive me
Then I could
Learn how to feel
Then we could
Stay here together
And we could
Conquer the world
If we could
Say that forever
Is more than just a word

If you just walked away
What could I really say?
And would it matter anyway?
It wouldn't change how you feel

30 Days Of Music - Day 10

A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep

David Gray - This Years Love

Whenever I have trouble sleeping I go straight for my ipod and play "This Years Love."
I think it is SUCH a pretty, peaceful song!!
This was even a possibility for mine and Brett's wedding song :]
I just LOVE it.

This years love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time
And I've been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can't go on

Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yeah
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last

So whose to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don't you know this life goes on
And won't you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain't this life so sweet

This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last

30 Days Of Music - Day 9

A Song That You Can Dance To

Usher - Yeah

This should have been the EASIEST day for me and for some reason it was the HARDEST!

I could not pick a song to save my life... maybe it's because I can't really dance??!! I don't know.
I was going to pick the Cha Cha Slide because it TELLS YOU what "dance moves" to do and even a child could make it look like they know what they were doing... but that seemed to easy!!

So I picked Usher's "Yeah" because I remember all of the times I have danced to this song with my friends...
At High School dances, parties, and proms.
This was the kind of song that we would get so excited about when it came on, that we make have let out a scream or two and turned up the volume...yeah, that MIGHT have happened but we most definitely did DANCE!!

[Usher:]
Peace up! A Town Down!

[Lil' Jon:]
Yeah, (Yeah!) OK!

(Usher! Usher! Usher! Usher!)

[Lil' Jon:]
Lil' Jon!

[Usher:]
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Yeah, Yeah! Yeaah!
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Yeah, Yeah! Yeaah!

[Usher (Verse 1):]
Up in the club with my homies, tryna get a lil' V-I, but keep it down on the low key, 'cause you know how it is.
I saw shorty she was checkin' up on me, from the game she was spittin' in my ear you would think that she knew me.
So we decided to chill

Conversation got heavy, she had me feelin' like she's ready to blow!
(Watch Out! Oh! Watch Out!)
She's saying "Come get me! Come get me",
So I got up and followed her to the floor, she said "Baby, let's go",
That's when I told her I said

[Usher (Chorus):]
Yeah (yeah) Shorty got down low and said come and get me
Yeah (yeah) I got so caught up I forgot she told me
Yeah (yeah) Her and my girl used to be the best of homies
Yeah (yeah) Next thing I knew she was all up on me screaming:

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Yeah, Yeah! Yeaah!
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Yeah, Yeah! Yeaah!

[Usher (Verse 2):]
So she's all up in my head now, got me thinking that it might good idea to take her with me,
'Cause she's ready to leave (ready to leave)
But I gotta keep it real now, 'cause on a one to ten she's a certified twenty, but that just ain't me. Hey.

Because I don't know if I take that chance just where it's gonna lead,
But what I do know is the way she dance makes shorty alright with me.
The way she (get low!)
I'm like yeah, just work that out for me.
She asked for one more dance and I'm
Like yeah, how the hell am I supposed to leave?
And I said

[Chorus]

[Lil' Jon:]
Hey, Luda!

[Ludacris (Verse 3):]
Watch out!
My outfit's ridiculous, in the club lookin' so conspicuous.
And Rowl! These women all on the prowl, if you hold the head steady I'm a milk the cow.
Forget about the game, I'm a spit the truth, I won't stop till I get 'em in they birthday suits.
So gimmie the rhythm and it'll be off with their clothes, then bend over to the front and touch your toes.
I left the Jag and I took the Rolls, if they aint cutting then I put em on foot patrol.
How you like me now, when my pinky's valued over three hundred thousand,
Lets drank you the one to please, Ludacris fill cups like double D's.
Me and Ursh once more and we leave 'em dead, we want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed to say

[Chorus]

[Ludacris (Bridge):]
Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the beat to make ya booty go (clap)
Take that and rewind it back, Ursher got the voice to make ya booty go (clap)
Take that and rewind it back, Ludacris got the flow to make ya booty go (clap)
Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the beat to make ya booty go (clap)

30 Days Of Music - Day 8

A Song You Know All The Words To

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Ghetto Cowboy

This makes me LAUUUUGH.
I know the words to a lot of songs but for some reason this song was the first one to come to mind.

This was just one of THOSE songs that I loved and listened to over and over again, on one of my MANY burnt CD's in High School...
and even though I do not listen to it today... whenever I DO hear it, I still remember ALL of the words.

The good High School days :]

You better count your money [2x]
(Ghetto Cowboy)
You better count your money [2x]
(Ghetto Cowboy)
You better count your money [2x]
(Ghetto Cowboy)
You better count your money [2x]
(Ghetto Cowboy)

[Krayzie]
The name is Krayzie, big bad ass bone,
Wanted up north for all the gold that I stole,
Along with some cash I even took the mayor's daughter,
Now that there's kidnap, but she was with us so I brought her.
Dun got myself into a whole heap of trouble,
Double-crossed by the law so it's nobody to run to,
Yeah it's just me and my sawed-off shotgun,
I dun now call him 'Leatherface'.
I'm headed for the west heard they got a couple banks in town
That ain't been held up yet, well uh, I ought to make it by sundown,
I figure that's enough time for me to get the whole rundown,
So I continue my mission, it's gettin' dark
So now I'm watching for them damn injuns,
They like to catch up then they rob -n- split.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.
All of a sudden, I heard somebody rumble in the bushes, stopped my horse,
"Whoa nelly! Who in the bushes, you better speak up,
Or I'mma let my shotgun's song sing out."

[Woman]
Who's this? Hope this ain't the law, draw out the bushes with my sawed-off shotgun.

[Krayzie]
"Come on out right now I'm gettin' angry."
Took a step back 'cause it could get dangerous.

[Woman]
"Please don't shoot it's just me Thug Queen Horse Stealer."

[Krayzie]
"Then why the hell is you hidin' in them bushes"

[Thug Queen]
"I'm wanted in 4 counties, for armed robbery, killed 2 sheriffs, 6 of his best men with my head,
Stole 2 horses, thought you was the law that's why
I jumped in the bushes."

[Krayzie]
"Goodness."
Now she was hotter than a barrel of fire but I could use her for the job so I told her to ride.
"Come on."

[Thug Queen]
"May I ask you what you headed to the west for?"

[Krayzie]
"I got a partner got a plan for some dough and if you're down you can pick up yourself a pretty penny.
Be in town in a minute now be sure if you're with it."

[Thug Queen]
"We be up before the sun rise got a stall(ion) here for your partner to ride hit the saloon before the moon shine down for whatever let's ride let's ride."

[Krayzie]
"These directions say we go to Tucson, Arizona.
When we arrive we'll cop a place we can bunk,
And meet my boy in the morning for details -n- hookup."

You better count your money [2x]
(Ghetto Cowboy)
You better count your money [2x]
(Ghetto Cowboy)

[Rooster crows]
[Krayzie]
"Rise -n- shine, good morning, howdy.
Nine o' clock we meet my boy in the saloon in the valley.
Now I dun came a long way and I don't wanna be late.

[Thug Queen]
"Tell him I'll make it to him, you know we ain't."

Move out! Giddy up giddy up giddy up [4x]

You better count your money [2x]

[Layzie]
"I'm peepin' Krayzie's 'Wanted' poster in the saloon,
So I assume it'll be trouble round here pretty soon.
Glanced across the room I seen this youngster gettin' ready to fight
But if he mess up tonight I think that Krayzie just might take his life.
So I approached him and I paused.
"Look man, I really don't wanna brawl, but won't you chill before them laws,
Come messin' up this master plan,
Since he already rowdy I'm just asked the man (dang).
You want some work well partner put in your bid
And by the way now what's your name, they call me Layzie the Kid."

[Other dude]
"The name's Powder Pete, can I get a 12 gauge!
Outlaw every day, on the front page.
Mister Kid, if you give me the low-down me and Blackjack,
Be ready for the showdown, with 2 double-barrels pointed at whatever,
We'll stick together, I'm pretty clever."

[Layzie]
"So saddle up, jump on the bandwagon because it's all goin' down."
I heard the guy runnin' the bar screamin' 'Krayzie's in town.'

[Krayzie]
"Now when we get to this saloon, you don't worry, wait outside.
Don't be stealin' nobody's damn horses."
Stepped inside the bar.
"Layzie Kid you son of a gun!"

[Layzie]
"Hey man I'm glad you made it safely, now let's go have some fun.
And this my partner Powder, he's a young gun.

[Powder Pete]
"Howdy."

[Krayzie]
"Mighty glad to meet ya son.
Oh yeah, you know I also brought a friend along, meet Thug Queen,
The horse peddler, straggler, just met her."

[Thug Queen]
"Howdy partner, already got the horses saddled up."

[Layzie]
"I hope you're good at robbin' banks like you rustle that cattle up."

[Powder Pete]
"Now y'all, it's gonna be gettin' dark real soon."

[Krayzie]
"I think you're right I say we move, come on let's."

Move out, giddy up giddy up giddy up [4x]

You better count your money [8x]

30 Days Of Music - Day 7

A Song That Reminds You Of An Event

Montgomery Gentry - Gone

This song makes me SO HAPPY!!!
I swear that when I hear this song I can smell fresh cut grass, feel the sun on my face, and can hear the "tinging" of softballs hitting softball bats...
One day during softball practice in High School, our coach BLASTED this song from his truck stereo while we were taking batting practice and we were all laughing, singing, and having a GOOD time. (And we could do this... because we were pretty goooood =] )
That song stuck with us for the rest of the season and made it on to our highlight tape at the end of the year.  So WHENEVER I hear this song... I think about my High School softball team and how much I MISS them and how much I MISS playing!!

The only team picture I could find....

This ain't no temporary, typical, tearful good-bye, uh uh uh
This ain't no breakin' up and wakin' up and makin' up one more time, uh uh uh
This is gone (gone) gone (gone) gone (gone) gone

Gone like a freight-train, gone like yesterday
Gone like a soldier in the civil war, bang bang
Gone like a '59 Cadillac
Like all the good things that ain't never coming back
She's gone (gone) gone (gone) gone (gone) gone, she's gone

This ain't no give it time, I'm hurtin' but maybe we can work it out, uh uh uh
Won't be no champagne, red rose, romance, second chance, uh uh uh
This is gone (gone) gone (gone) gone (gone) gone

Gone like a freight-train, gone like yesterday
Gone like a soldier in the civil war, bang bang
Gone like a '59 Cadillac
Like all the good things that ain't never coming back
She's gone (gone) gone (gone) gone (gone) gone
She's gone

She's gone (gone) gone (gone) gone (gone) gone, she's gone

Gone like a freight-train, gone like yesterday
Gone like a soldier in the civil war, bang bang
Gone like a '59 Cadillac
Like all the good things that ain't never coming back
She's gone (gone) she's gone (gone) she's gone (gone) she's gone
She's gone

Gone like a freight-train, gone like yesterday
Gone like a soldier in the civil war, bang bang
Gone like a '59 Cadillac
Like all the good things
Well, she's gone

Long gone, done me wrong
Never comin' back, my baby's gone
Lonely at home, sittin' all alone
She's packed her bags and now she's gone
Never comin' back, she's gone
No no never, no no never, no never comin' back

Coach :]
